Need a way to energize yourself first thing on a morning? An early morning yoga session could do just that. Yoga is an excellent way to relax and unwind when you’re getting ready to go to bed, but it can also be an opportunity to open up your muscles and prepare your body for the challenges of the day ahead.

The question is, how do you get a great morning yoga session without sacrificing the sleep that you so desperately need?

The following tips will help you to make the most out of your schedule.

Don’t Compromise on Sleep

Ultimately, we all need enough sleep to feel our best each day.

According to SleepReport, Sleep doesn’t just reduce stress and boost your immune system, it also puts you in a better mood, makes it easier to maintain the right weight, and can even improve your memory.

It’s easy to assume that when you’re trying to make a positive change in your life, you’ll need to choose between things like exercise and yoga, or another hour in bed each morning. However, that doesn’t have to be the case. With the right daily schedule in place, you can wake up feeling rested, and enjoy a re-energizing yoga routine too.

Be Ready for Early Morning Yoga

The easiest way to make sure that you’re prepared for an early morning yoga session is to work on getting enough sleep the night before.

Restful sleep is all about schedule and rhythm. Each night contributes to good sleep hygiene so it is ideal to maintain a healthy bedtime routine. Go to bed at the same time each night and start your winding-down process with a few regular activities like having a hot bath, or enjoying a cup of tea.

Most adults need between 7 and 9 hours of sleep each day. To work out how much sleep you need, start by going to bed at a particular time, and setting your alarm for 7 hours later. If you wake up feeling groggy and exhausted after your body has had time to get used to your new routine, you might need to add another 30 minutes to your schedule. Keep adjusting until you find something that works for you but try not to go over 9 hours.

Once you know how much sleep you need, you can begin to adjust your sleeping routine slightly, so that you go to bed earlier at night and wake up earlier in the morning. Occasionally, to have enough time for a yoga session, all you’ll need is around fifteen extra minutes.

Waking Up Early for Yoga

Morning Yoga

When you begin to wake up early each morning for yoga, remember that you can even start your practice while in bed. A lot of basic poses are easy to do from the comfort of your mattress. You could consider these quick motions to be an easy way of transforming your morning stretch.

Additionally, remember that one of the best ways to make sure that you get the most out of your early morning yoga is to make it a part of your regular routine. That means that you still do the same stretches and poses each morning, even when you feel more exhausted than usual.

Yoga is a great way to energize yourself when it’s done in the morning, and it could even help you to feel better when you don’t get enough sleep. What’s more, as your body begins to get used to yoga as part of your daily routine, you’ll find that you start to wake up feeling more confident and ready for the day. You can start your yoga practice with something simple when you’re still adjusting your routine then work towards something more challenging when you feel more capable.

Start Your Day the Right Way

How you begin your day can have a huge impact on how you feel thereafter. It makes sense to start your day with a practice that makes you feel happy, confident, and free. Yoga is a wonderful way to get in touch with your body and spirit and put yourself in the right position for stronger mindfulness in the hours ahead.

With your new routine to help you wake up feeling refreshed and revitalized each morning, you’ll be sure to fall in love with morning yoga.
